We then travel to Scit to visit its serene Franciscan (Roman Catholic) monastery and explore the Scit Ethnographic museum, which beautifully showcases traditional rural life and customs. After that, we will come to Bugojno for accommodation.

.

Day 2. After staying in Bugojno, we travel to Jajce to admire the spectacular Pliva waterfall, where the river plunges directly into the Vrbas, creating one of the most photographed scenes in the country. We explore the unique Mithras Temple, a rare 2nd‑century Roman monument dedicated to the mystery god Mithras. We then stroll through Jajce's historical center (UNESCO Tentative List Site) with its medieval fortress, and relax in the tranquil Mlincici park. After that, we will return to Bugojno for accommodation.

.

Day 3. After 2 nights in Bugojno, we travel to Travnik to explore its imposing medieval fortress, dating back to the 14th century and once the seat of Ottoman viziers, and enjoy a peaceful stroll along the scenic Travnik river. We then travel to the poignant Tunnel of Hope museum, a preserved underground passage that served as a vital lifeline during the city's siege in the 1990s. After that, we will come to Sarajevo for accommodation.

.

Day 4. After staying in Sarajevo, we explore the city's historical center (UNESCO Tentative List Site), a vibrant mosaic of Eastern and Western influences. We visit the Sacred Heart cathedral, explore the Gazi Husrev‑beg museum, wander through the bustling Bascarsija old bazaar, and admire the elegant Sebilj fountain at the heart of the old town. We stay another night in Sarajevo.

.

Day 5. After 2 nights in Sarajevo, we ascend via the city's charming funicular for breathtaking panoramic views of the capital nestled in the valley. We then enjoy a scenic drive through the stunning Sutjeska National Park, one of Bosnia's oldest and most beautiful protected areas, famous for its primeval forest Perućica and the WWII battle site. Our journey continues to Trebinje to see the elegant Arslanagic Bridge from the 16th century. After that, we will come to Trebinje for accommodation.

.

Day 6. After staying in Trebinje, we travel to Tvrdos to explore its Serbian Orthodox monastery, originally founded in the 15th century, and enjoy a tasting of their excellent red wines, particularly the local Vranec variety, known for its deep color and robust body. We return to Trebinje to visit the hilltop Hercegovacka Gracanica church, explore the Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord cathedral, and wander through the charming historical center. We stay another night in Trebinje.

.

Day 7. After 2 nights in Trebinje, we travel to the fascinating Vjetrenica cave system (UNESCO World Heritage Site), renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity and spectacular underground formations. We then visit Radimlja to see the remarkable medieval stecci (tombstone) necropolis (UNESCO World Heritage Site) from the 15th‑16th centuries, one of the best preserved collections of these unique carved monuments. Our journey continues to Stolac to admire its ancient hilltop fortress (UNESCO Tentative List Site), with origins dating to the 5th century. We will stay in Stolac.

.

Day 8. After staying in Stolac, we travel to the enchanting Ottoman‑era hill town of Pocitelj (UNESCO Tentative List Site), renowned for its beautifully preserved stone architecture and panoramic views. We then visit the spectacular Kravica waterfalls, a natural amphitheater of cascades on the Trebizat River, ideal for swimming and photography. After that, we will come to Medjugorje for accommodation.

.

Day 9. After staying in Medjugorje, we explore the world‑famous Roman Catholic pilgrimage center that has attracted millions of visitors since reported apparitions began in 1981. We then travel to Podrumi Andrija, a family‑owned winery where we sample their premium white wines, including Žilavka, a crisp Herzegovinian varietal with floral and fruit notes. Finally, we return to Mostar, where our memorable journey concludes.

Tour style

.

This tour is focused on cultural and historical aspects of visited countries, exploring well-known destinations as well as off-the-beaten-path hidden gems.

.

We, at Monterrasol Travel, practice the Slow Tourism philosophy. That means that we work our tours at a pace that allows our clients to have a more authentic experience and a true exploration of each destination we visit. We dismiss the stress, the rush, the tight schedules, and the crazy running from spot to spot, especially related to bus travel package tours for large groups.

.

We love to travel in a relaxed, not hurried, way. All our tours have been designed with that key idea in mind, and we try to keep a balance between the places scheduled to be visited and free time to take a break. Also, we do not like to keep our clients in the car for a long time on the way between itinerary points, just a fair amount of time.

.

.

Tour price

.

The price shown is valid for a minimum of two participants and includes rooms in 3-star hotels, which are usually not near the historical centers with pedestrian streets. If you would like better accommodation in terms of location and quality level, please select an upgrade to a 4-star hotel when making your reservation.

.

This tour is available for solo travelers (traveling alone) who would like to have an exclusive private tour for just one person. If this is the case, you have to choose accommodation in a single room together with the extra option "Solo tour supplement".

.

If you are thinking of taking this tour with more than 2 people, please contact us, Monterrasol Travel, for possible discounts. Also, we provide for this tour a special discount for pensioners (senior citizens); conditions apply.

.

The number of participants is limited by space in the car. If you are thinking of taking this tour as a larger group, please contact us.

.

Tour notes

.

The availability of quality accommodations highly depends on the season and the amount of time we have in advance to book. The sooner you book your trip, the more possibilities we have of finding you better accommodations.

.

We strongly recommend traveling off-season. The great benefits of the off-season period are fewer tourists, cooler weather, and reduced prices. Traveling off-season offers a different, more relaxed travel experience compared to the overcrowded summer months.
