- AM: ARRIVAL IN BALTRA ISLAND At the Baltra Airport you will meet Galapagos Path´s staff. Then, you will be assisted to take the shared bus in Baltra and the ferry at Itabaca Channel. You will ride a comfortable transportation in order to explore the outstanding Santa Cruz highland. PM: THE TWINS + GIANT TURTLE + LAVA TUNNELS – HOTEL Teeming wildlife and greenest site will be your first spot, it is called Los Gemelos – or “The Twins” in English – which are often mistaken for volcanic craters, those are actually sinkholes. When the volcanoes on the islands were active, lava flows would roll down the hills and run under the ground to get the sea becoming big lava tunnels and magma chambers. These underground for thousands of years until their roofs collapsed due to erosion, it is the case with Los Gemelos. Then, you will wonder visiting a giant tortoises reserve. A healthy short trail allows you to discover giant turtles on natural state. You will also explore lava tunnels always assisted by our experimented tour guide. The hot lunch will be tasty watching turtles and you will ride your comfortable transportation to the hotel.
