Colombia is the only country in South America that has a coastline on both the Atlantic and Pacific sides. Compared to the Atlantic side with its Caribbean flair, the Pacific coast is much more untouched and separated from the rest of the country by an almost impenetrable mountain rainforest.
This isolated region is one of the areas with the highest rainfall in the world and can only be reached by plane. The people living here are black and have only recently come into contact with other Colombians or even foreigners.
A tourist infrastructure has only been developed in recent years. Vacations on the dream beaches of the Pacific, which are directly adjacent to the lush rainforest, still have a particularly exclusive character here. Despite their remoteness, the few hotels are professionally managed and offer excellent facilities and service quality.

The Pacific component includes two overnight stays in the wonderful La Kuka lodge complex, which is about an hour's boat ride south of Nuqui lies. You will be picked up at Nuqui airfield and driven to your lodge. On site you have the opportunity to do a variety of activities over the course of the day, such as a jungle hike to a spectacular waterfall, a beach hike to the hot Thermal springs in the middle of the jungle, or taking a trek to the Rio Terco. The guide accompanying you is English-speaking and has a broad background knowledge of the local flora and fauna. During your stay you will be pampered with three included meals and plenty of tropical fruits around the clock. After an introduction at the hotel and a delicious lunch, the activities for the following days will be discussed with the tour guide. In the afternoon we recommend a short guided excursion along the beach to the Cascada del Amor waterfall, about 15 minutes away. As you walk up, you will repeatedly cross the stream, so be prepared to get your feet wet.
