- (Monday) You depart at around 8:30 am from the Southern Cross Coach Terminal in Spencer Street. You leave Melbourne and drive over the West Gate Bridge through the vast volcanic plains to Geelong. The Great Ocean Road is divided into three different sections: The Surf Coast, the Otway Ranges and the Shipwreck Coast. We will have enough time to explore all three sections. You start your journey along the Great Ocean Road in Torquay (Surf Coast). This stretch of coastline offers the first of countless photo stops as you encounter stunning coastal views and vantage points and visit places such as the famous Bells Beach. Turn your gaze inland and observe the incredible Australian wildlife, including the Eastern Grey Kangaroos grazing in the wild. Continue along the impressive and scenic Great Ocean Road along the cliffs. You will reach the Memorial Arch, where you will learn more about the fascinating history of this incredible road. You'll then visit Lorne, the largest of the coastal communities, before heading to picturesque Wye River Seaside Town and the Wye River Cafe, which offers stunning ocean views and is the perfect spot for lunch. From Wye River Seaside Town, continue along this spectacular road, visiting many scenic spots such as Kennett River, where you can spot koalas and many colorful native birds in the wild. You drive through Apollo Bay and into the Great Otway National Park (Otway Ranges). A guided walk through a gorge of cool, temperate rainforest is offered here. The next stop is undoubtedly one of Australia's most famous vantage points for the country's natural beauty: the 12 Apostles. Watch the iconic rocks and cliffs glow in the afternoon sun and stroll along the boardwalk. Your accommodation for the first night is the small fishing village of Port Campbell, situated on a beautiful natural harbor and offering some wonderful cafes and restaurants where you can dine (optional) and enjoy the views. One night at the Port Campbell Parkview Motel (lunch).
