Przegląd wycieczki

If you are looking for an escape from the bustling crowds, then the Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is just for you. This is a remote and unexplored region of Nepal. Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m) is the world’s 3rd highest mountain and in translation means “The Five Treasures of the great snows”.  On this trek, you will visit the South and North Base Camps of Kanchenjunga. The region has a diverse landscape, with green meadows, rhododendron and birch forests, waterfalls and glaciers – such as the Yalung Glacier. You will be amazed at how the villagers in this region survive. One reason is their faith and spirituality. Along the trail, you will visit several Buddhist monasteries, including Ramtang and Oktang. You will be trekking in a region bordering India’s north east, near Sikkim.

The region is protected and is within the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, which requires a special trekking permit from the Nepal government to enter this region. The World Wildlife Fund and the Nepali government jointly manage this area. It is an amazing unspoiled area rich in fauna and flora, terraced farms and beautiful valleys, as well as being home to various ethnicities that include Sherpa, Limbu, Rai &Tamang. You will need a reasonable level of fitness to take this trek; the days can be long and physically demanding.

There are four peaks in the area over 800m, such as Yalung Kang (8586m), also known as Kanchenjunga West. There are a mind-blowing 17 peaks over 700m! There are five major glaciers, some flowing into Sikkim and others like the Yulang Glacier that flows into the raging Tamor River in Nepal. This is a great opportunity to explore the Himalayas in a remote region of Nepal on the border with India. You may encounter the shy and secretive snow leopard or red panda and bear along the trail.
