Day 01 – Arrival in Sri Lanka | Relax in Coastal Negombo
Upon arrival at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide and transferred to Negombo — a charming coastal city just 20 minutes away. After your flight, settle into your hotel and enjoy a well-deserved rest. Whether you choose to unwind by the pool, take a gentle walk in the garden, or simply soak in the tropical air, this is your perfect moment to acclimate and relax.
Negombo, located along Sri Lanka’s western coastline, is a vibrant town steeped in colonial heritage and local culture. Once a strategic port under the Dutch, Portuguese, and British, its legacy is visible in the remnants of the 17th-century Dutch Fort, now repurposed as a prison. The city’s famous Negombo Lagoon—lined with colorful fishing boats and humble huts—feeds into the historic Hamilton Canal, which flows all the way to Colombo. Known for its long stretches of golden beach and its deep-rooted fishing traditions, Negombo is also home to a diverse, bilingual community predominantly Roman Catholic by faith, yet rich in Sinhala and Tamil cultural expressions. It's the perfect introduction to Sri Lanka’s warm hospitality and coastal charm. Overnight stay in Negombo.
