- After picking up your rental car at Chiang Mai Airport, you start your individual journey towards the northwest. After about an hour's drive, you will reach the district of Mae Taeng - an untouched jewel far away from mass tourism. Dense jungle, lush greenery and lush vegetation await you here and you can look forward to a fantastic natural backdrop. And there is plenty to see, e.g. the local market Mae Malai and the hot springs Pong Deuat Pa Pae The impressive temple complex Wat Ban Den is also worth a visit. Your destination for today, Pai, is a formerly sleepy little town that has now developed into a colorful and popular destination, especially for backpackers. Just outside the center is the temple Phra That Mae Yen with its large white Buddha statue and a breathtaking view over the Pai valley, especially beautiful at sunset. The temple Nam Hoo is also worth a visit, it houses a Buddha statue that is important to the Thais because of its holy water. It is also interesting to visit the Boon Ko Ku So Bridge, a bamboo bridge that stretches 800 meters over rice fields. One night at the Pai Village Boutique Resort (middle class, national category: 3 stars). Approx. 175 km/approx. 3.5 hours.
