Plan dzień po dniu
- Arrive at Egilsstaðir airport in the morning and transfer to the local guesthouse where we will spend the next 5 nights. Learn about life in the fishing village of Borgarfjörður eystri and enjoy lunch at a local fish soup restaurant. Then take a hike through the Borgarfjörður valley and follow the sheep trails up to Dimmidalur (dark valley). Keep your eyes peeled for the "hidden people", as we cross legendary elven territories here. In the evening, enjoy a meal prepared by our hosts with ingredients fresh from the farm
and stay in a family-run guesthouse to really get to know our Icelandic hosts. In their words, their guesthouse is your home away from home. And with their hospitality, you'll be reluctant to leave. With breakfast and dinner included, we can really get to know the local cuisine. Our hosts cook with fresh, local ingredients. This is not only good for the small farmers and fishermen in their neighborhood, but also a feast for our taste buds.
In folklore, Borgarfjörður eystri is considered to be home to a large number of elves, even though the "hidden people" are of course difficult to see. The elves live in the many fascinating rock formations here and have no problem with hikers as long as they respect their homes and nature. Occasionally they even help humans, especially those who are being bullied by others. So be nice to each other!
